A PIL was filed in the Karnataka High Court on the recent exhibition of nude paintings of some Hindu Gods and Goddesses in Chitrakala Parishath art gallery here.

When the PIL came up before a division bench headed by acting Chief Justice K Sreedhar Rao, the court directed counsel for petitioner G R Mohan to amend the prayer in the petition and adjourned the matter for February 11.

The petitioner M K Vijaykumar said there there was no elected body in the Arts institution for the past five years to preside over matters and there was no screening committee to screen paintings of artists before they are showcased in the art gallery.

The petitioner had also sought proper guidelines to the police to investigate sensitive matters like these.

On February 5, the Arts institution was made to remove the said paintings from its gallery, pursuant to the threat of protests from public and request by police.
