PM says country in safe hands

Last Updated 26 February 2019, 12:47 IST

Amidst the slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai" in the backdrop of photos of forty Jawans that were martyred in Pulwama last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday in his first public speech after the Indian Air Forces' (IAF) operation assured people that 'country is in safe hands'.

"I assure you that the nation is in safe hands. I swear I won't let India slow down and bow down. Today is the day to pay homage to India’s Bravehearts.," PM Narendra Modi said addressing a public rally in Rajasthan Churu district that falls in the Shekhawati region also known as the land of the brave hearts as most of the army personnel in Rajasthan hail from this belt.

This was Prime Minister’s second visit to the state in four days. Modi had kicked off the BJP’S Rajasthan Lok Sabha campaign from Tonk last week where he had hit out at the Congress government for failing to fulfil its promise of complete loan waiver for farmers. He also gave the new slogan ‘Modi hai toh Mumkin hai’.

Modi in his address said, "We are a government that thinks a group is bigger than an individual, and the nation is bigger than any group. My government has made the impossible, possible. The state government must not hinder the Centre's support to farmers".

Blames Congress

PM Modi also targeted the Congress-led Rajasthan state government for delay in handing over the list of marginalised and small farmers for inclusion in the PM-KISAN scheme. "The first instalment of Rs 2,000 has been credited to bank accounts of more than one crore farmers but 50 lakh farmers from Churu are deprived of this scheme. Its unfortunate that not a single farmer from Rajasthan and Churu has got any money just because the state government has not even sent a list of the farmers. They are not cooperating with the Centre" Modi added. He claimed that in the next 10 years Rs. 7.5 Lakh crore will be deposited in the accounts of farmers whose notification they will directly get on their mobile phones, saying that they have received the amount.

Shekhwati comprises Sikar, Churu and Jhunjhunu districts which accounts for 21 seats. The belt was regarded as a Congress bastion but in the last election, the Congress won only four seats in the region. Striking a chord with the families of jawans and martyrs from Shekhawati, PM Modi revisited his government's decision to roll out One Rank, One Pension for retired defence personnel.

"Thousands of families in Rajasthan, along 20 lakh families across the nation have availed the benefits of One Rank, One Pension. We have disbursed Rs 35,000 crore to families of retired soldiers after the implementation of OROP," PM Modi said.

He also blamed out at Congress party due to which no beneficiary from Rajasthan has been reported among the 13 lakh patients who received the benefits under Ayushman Bharat scheme.

India is achieving unimaginable targets

He also praised the soldiers in Indian defence forces who hail from Rajasthan, mentioning how the recently inaugurated National War Memorial is special for the people of the state due to its contribution to the wings Indian armed forces.

While sharing the report card of his five years government Modi said that "We are achieving targets that were not even imaginable earlier". Former Chief Minister and BJP national president Vasundhara Raje who was also present on the stage later tweeted: "Today Shri @narendramodi ji has delivered on his promise to avenge the honour of our brave-hearts not as a Prime Minister, but as a patriot whose heart bled at the disrespect to his motherland".
