PMO expresses gratitude to all CMs for the supports to the finalisation of GST

The Prime Minister’s Office has written to 30 chief ministers and the leaders of all political parties expressing gratitude for their support to the finalisation of a new tax regime for the country, reports DHNS from New Delhi.

“The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be launched on July 1. This is a momentous occasion and marks the culmination of many years of preparation. Such a gigantic task has been achieved with the cooperation of all the state governments as well as political parties and other stakeholders,” said Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), in letters to chief ministers and chief secretaries all states.

Singh wrote separate letters to leaders of all political parties which have members in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, conveying the gratitude the PMO and the Cabinet have expressed for their “cooperation” and support to rollout GST.

“The Union Cabinet which met on June 22 acknowledged their contribution and expressed its gratitude to the chief ministers of all states, to the GST Council, to the heads of all national level and state level recognised political parties, to all members of Parliament, to all members of the state Legislature and to all sections of the society, including trade and industry associations,” Singh said. Singh also attached with his letters a copy of the resolution.
