Priyanka Chaturvedi slams party for reinstating workers

Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday lashed out at her own party following the reinstatement of some party workers, who targeted her at a function, on the instructions of AICC General Secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Commenting on a tweet by a journalist about the reinstatement, Chaturvedi expressed her disappointment at the party in a tweet.

"Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in Congress over those who have given their sweat and blood. Having faced brickbats and abuse across the board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate," she said.

Congress had earlier suspended some of its leaders for their unruly behaviour with Chaturvedi in Mathura.

According to the Congress letter, the party leaders were suspended on a complaint by Chaturvedi and it has now decided to take them back the following intervention from Scindia, who is Congress in-charge of western Uttar Pradesh.

The party workers had misbehaved with Chaturvedi during a press conference on Rafale deal, the letter said adding they had now expressed regret over the incident.

On the instructions of Scindia, it said, the action taken against them has now been reversed. The letter also warned them against any such behaviour in the future.
