Rahul to campaign in Chhattisgarh

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be on a two-day Chhattisgarh tour on November 9 and 10 to campaign for the first phase of Assembly polls in state.

The first phase covers the insurgency hit Bastar and Rajnandgaon regions that spread over 18 Assembly constituencies.

Addressing reporters in Raipur's Rajiv Bhawan, P L Punia, AICC In charge for the state, and Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, said that Rahul will address around half a dozen public meetings in various constituencies of Bastar and Rajnandgaon.

They also said that Rahul will take out a road show in Rajnandgaon headquarters while campaigning for Karuna Shukla, niece of the Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Karuna has been fielded against Chief Minister Raman Singh, at his home turf, as a Congress candidate.

Giving a details about Rahul's visit, the Congress leader said that the public meetings will take place in Pakhanjur in Bastar and Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon on November 9 along with a road show in Rajnandgaon district headquarters in the evening.

On the second day, Rahul will address public meetings in Charama, Kondagaon and district headquarters of Jagdalpur, they added.
