Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a press conference, hours after addressing one in Hyderabad.

Rahul also took a dig at Modi over his extensive election campaign and hoped that he could now spare some time for his "part-time job as prime minister".

"Dear Mr Modi, Now that campaigning is over, hope you can spare some time for your part-time job as PM," the Congress president said on Twitter.

"By the way, it has been 1,654 days since you became PM. Still no press conference," Rahul asked and appended some photographs of a press conference he addressed in Hyderabad with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

"Try one someday, it’s fun having questions thrown at you," Rahul said.
