Rahul-PM meet sparks Cabinet recast speculation

Speculation over an impending Cabinet reshuffle continued in the capital on Wednesday even as Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi called on prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Leaders in the Congress, the main party which heads the UPA coalition, indicated that there was no clarity on the issue although both party chief Sonia Gandhi and Singh had separately met president Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday. 

Party sources said though Rahul met Singh, it was not related to a discussion on reshuffle.

There was also speculation that a reshuffle may take place only after Dasera, as no groundwork had been done on the issue either by the prime minister or the Congress chief.Congress circles did not want to read too much in to the Rahul-PM meeting although for long, Singh had been inviting the former to join his Cabinet.
