Rahul to address rally in Bengal on March 23

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting in the party's West Bengal bastion, Malda district, on March 23.

“Rahul Gandhi will hold a rally in Malda on March 23. He is coming to Malda to review our poll preparedness and to boost the morale of Congress workers,” a senior state Congress leader said.

The development comes at a time when the proposed alliance between the Left Front and the Congress in the state is plagued by several issues.

Although, the Congress won the Malda North and Malda South Lok Sabha seats in 2014, the party is facing stiff challenge from the ruling TMC, which has been allegedly engineering defections in the Congress.

Recently, Congress MP from Malda North Mausam Benazir Noor, who has considerable organisational clout in the constituency, joined the TMC.
