Railway employee in Gujarat dies 3 days after suicide attempt

The victim, Pinkesh Pandit, had tried to commit suicide after setting himself on fire using inflammable liquid at the Divisional Railway Manager's (DRM) office located in Pratapnagar here on Friday.

According to sources, Pandit had complained of harassment at workplace and was said to be unhappy over a transfer order.

On the day of the incident, he had come to the DRM office to speak to the authorities on these issues. However, at the office, he set himself on fire after pouring inflammable liquid that he had brought along with him, sources said.

President of Western Railay Employees' Union Santosh Pawar said that he had promised Pandit a help in taking his issues to the concerned authorities.

DRM of Vadodara Division of Western Railway A K Srivastav had appointed a three-member committee to find out the motive behind Pandit's suicide attempt. The committee is likely submit a report today.

Victim's body would be sent for post-mortem today, sources said.
