Raj govt should assure that flood victims receives compensation: Rahul Gandhi

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said that the situation in the flood affected areas of Rajasthan is bad and Congress is trying to reach out to the people in the bad times. Rahul Gandhi, who is on one day visit to Rajasthan, toured flood-hit areas in Jalore district. Gandhi reached Sanchor village in Jalore by helicopter and toured the flood-hit areas by road.

He also distributed food items and other commodities to flood victims. He also met affected people at villages Devda and Hadecha in Sanchore tehsil. Gandhi while interacting with the flood hit victims, assured that Congress party will try its best to reach out to every part that has been affected by flash floods. "People are yet to receive any compensations from the state government and there are no signs of rehabilitation. State government should take this on priority," Gandhi said. Jalore district is the worst-hit district where more than 12,000 people have been relocated to safer areas.

The Congress Vice President is accompanied by Rajasthan PCC president Sachin Pilot, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and other leaders and party workers. Before heading towards flood hit villages of Gujarat, Rahul is also scheduled to visit flood hit areas of Barmer district.

Due to the flash floods that hit several parts of the state on Juky 23rd, as many as 22 people have died and thousands have become homeless. As per the official data 4.91 lakh cattle that have been affected in these four districts due to floods. Around  1,113 big animals, mainly stray cows and cows in cow shelters, and 876 small animals (goats and sheep) have died due to floods.
