Rift in AAP still far from over

Last Updated 18 March 2015, 21:15 IST

Though Aam Aadmi Party leaders have swiftly moved towards truce, there are signs of unresolved differences between them.

Senior leader Prashant Bhushan on Wednesday wrote to Arvind Kejriwal to remind him of pending issues in the party. He also said that party posts did not mean anything for him. Bhushan in his letter reiterated his stance of making the AAP a completely transparent political party, quite different from other parties.

His demands include a strong mechanism for transparency in candidate selection, the right to state units to decide about contesting elections in their own state and proper mechanism for clean donation and expenditure. Bhushan accepted that he has written a note to Kejriwal on issues he and others have been talking about. But he denied offering to resign from National Executive.

Kejriwal is moving fast to accommodate different viewpoints. On Tuesday, he convened a meeting of Political Affairs Committee to decide expansion of the party in other parts of the country. Apparently to accommodate Yogendra Yadav, he took the decision to ensure volunteers’ participation in decision making. Yadav responded positively.
