RSS wants judicial probe into Kerala political murders

Last Updated 04 August 2017, 20:15 IST

The RSS on Friday asked the Modi government to order a judicial probe into the cycle of violence in Kerala which it dubbed ‘Communist Talibanisation’.

Stopping short of asking the Centre to dismiss the LDF government, the Sangh urged people to condemn the worst form of “intolerance” unleashed by Left workers under the patronage, support and guidance of the CPM government in the state.

Following discussions in Parliament over the violence in Kerala, the BJP is despatching Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to Kerala to meet the family of BJP and RSS workers killed in the violence.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also intervened by asking Kerala Governor P Sathasivam to seek a report from the state government on the murder of RSS worker Rajesh in Thiruvananthapuram.

Despite efforts by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to broker a truce between the CPM and RSS, the outfits accused each other of jeopardising peace efforts.

Addressing the press for the first time, RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale demanded a judicial inquiry into 300 murders of BJP workers in Kerala, including 14 that took place in a year since the Pinarayi government assumed office. “We will create a  groundswell of support for President’s rule in the state,” the RSS leader stated.

Asked about the violence perpetrated by Sangh workers, Hosabale said it could be retaliation. “It is human because you lose life. It is not planned,” he said. “We are not defending such karyakartas. Let them face investigation. He also claimed that most Sangh functionaries have been jailed in foisted cases.

“The nation, which debated intolerance in the past, has ignored ‘Communist violence’ perpetuated in Kerala for years on the pretext that it is a mere fight between the CPM and RSS.

“Though the CPM calls for the uplift of the bourgeoisie,  they planned, targeted and killed four Dalit workers and a woman.

“The Left has a worldwide history of murder politics and has been fighting the RSS in Kerala to stop the spread of the nationalist ideology,” he said.

CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury countered the allegations by saying the RSS is not responding to the peace initiatives taken by the state government, though the onus of ending the killings is on them.
