Sahai is a 1973-batch IRTS officer and has served the ministry in various capacities. A statement from the ministry said, Sahai has an extensive experience in suburban train operations. He handled the aftermath of serial bomb blast when he was serving the Mumbai division as the Divisional Railway Manager.
He studied operations of some important foreign rail networks like the French Railway and the US Rail Roads. He also studied privatisation of the British Railways too.
