SC concerned over trafficking problem in Kerala

Last Updated 21 August 2015, 19:29 IST

Human trafficking has become a huge problem in Kerala, the Supreme Court said on Friday while refusing to stay the CBI probe into the working of two state orphanages over alleged illegal transportation of children from Bihar and Jharkhand.

“Trafficking of children is a huge, huge problem in Kerala. You cannot say that this organisation is good or that organisation is bad,” a social justice bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and U U Lalit told senior advocate L N Rao.

Rao urged the court to stay the Kerala HC order of July 6 directing the CBI probe into trafficking of children from poor families in Bihar, Jharkhand.  He contended that the working of these registered orphanages was already being monitored by the authorities.
