HP and AP ink MOU for 3D printing centre

The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) signed 14 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 21,000 cr aimed at generating direct employment of around 57,000 and indirect employment of around 1,65,000 in Amaravati on Tuesday. The MOUs included Hewlett Packard India (HP) which will set up a centre of excellence (COE) for 3D printing in the state.

The (HP) a global leader in IT, technology and enterprise products, solutions and services, APEDB and the AP Innovation Society (APIS)will collaborate in setting up the state of the Art centre of excellence to be established around 4.0 IR Technologies such as additive manufacturing. "We believe HP's cutting edge 3D printing technology will fuel innovation in manufacturing and help up skill young professionals for make them ready for industry 4.0 in the state," said Sumeer Chandra, Managing Director, HP India in a statement.

The Centre will be equipped with 3D printers for short-run production, whereas the APIS will provide infrastructural support and the APEDB will facilitate the interface between the COE and the government department to encourage usage of the centre. " The flourishing manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace industry in the state will create demand for 3D technology," APEDB CEO J Krishna Kishore said.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said AP is number one in Ease of Doing Business and assured cooperation for industrial growth in the state. e said the AP pulp and paper mills which is going to set up unit near Ramayapatnam with an investment of Rs 24000 cr is going to commence production in 2 years.

Other MoUs include Maruti Ispat and Energy Private Limited, Telugu Pharmaceutical and Chemicals Association, ZIT India Pvt Ltd, Avanze Inventive Private Limited, Accolite India Private Limited, Silver Oaks International School, Shreyantra Industrial Hemp Andhra Private Limited, Dream Valley Resorts, SAPL Industries Private Limited, and the Wicked Rides.
