The BJP in Kerala demanded an NIA probe into the murder of an RSS worker allegedly by workers of SDPI, the political outfits of Popular Front of India.

A BJP delegation led by state president K Surendran called on Governor Arif Mohammad Khan demanding the NIA probe. The BJP leaders alleged nexus between the ruling CPI(M) and the SDPI and hence demanded probe by central agency. Surendran said that the party would take up the demand with Union Home Minister Amit Shah also.

Sanjith, a 27-year-old RSS local worker at Palakkad district, was hacked to death by a gang in front of his wife on Monday. The gang came in a car and knocked down the two-wheeler on which Sanjith and his wife were riding and murdered him. Sanjith's wife Arshika told a section of media that there were five members in the gang and she could recognise them.

The police on Tuesday recovered some weapons including country swords from a vacant area close to the national highway in the district. The blood-stained weapons were suspected to be those used for the murder. The police were carrying out searches at various parts of Palakkad and nearby Thrissur and Palakkad districts to trace the accused.
