Kerala CPM secretary-in-charge A Vijayaraghavan on Wednesday alleged that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were maintaining a soft Hindutva line and the Congress in Kerala was trying to expand its relationship with the BJP.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Vijayaraghavan said that the Congress leaders in Kerala were not criticising the BJP over key issues affecting the nation and were instead trying to attack the left-front government in Kerala along with the BJP as national leaders of the party were maintaining a soft Hindutva line.

While Rahul Gandhi commenced his election campaigns in Gujarat and Rajasthan by conducting poojas in temples, Priyanka was competing with BJP over Hindutva symbols, said Vijayaraghavan.

The CPM leader's statement came at a time when the Congress was pressurising the left-front government in Kerala to clarify their stand on the Sabarimala women entry issue - on whether they were in favour of allowing women of all ages to the temple or were for protecting the faiths and beliefs. The Congress even came up with a draft bill for protecting the faiths and beliefs and assured to implement it once they come to power in Kerala.
