Kerala village weeps over CPRF personnel's killing

Lakkidi, a small village in the gateway of the hilly district of Wayanad in North Kerala, is mourning the death of CRPF personnel Vasantha Kumar V V in the Pulwama terror strike.

Kumar was with his family just a week ago and he had returned on February 9. He is survived by his wife Sheena, two kids aged eight and six, and his mother.

He had spoken to his family just a couple of hours before the terror strike.

Locals and government representatives have been coming to the since the early hours of Friday after the news of the death came out.

The state government announced that all arrangements would be made for the funeral with state honours. A minister has been deputed to ensure proper arrangement.

Vasantha Kumar's body is expected to be brought to the state by Saturday morning.

The body will be kept at the nearby school where Vasantha Kumar studied, where the public can pay homage.

It would be laid to rest at the premises of his house, local sources said.

Vasantha Kumar's relatives said he was serving in the Punjab sector till recently and was posted to Kashmir after a promotion.
