Pawan Kalyan to undertake 3-month-long bus yatra

Last Updated 25 July 2019, 13:42 IST

Actor turned politician and Chiranjeevi's younger brother Pawan Kalyan will embark on a three-month-long Bus Yatra from Anantapur to Srikakulam.

In the run-up to the 2019 Assembly elections, Pawan, in his yatra, will visit all 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and highlight the demand for Special Category Status for the state.

Pawan, who offered prayers at the Tirumala temple on Sunday, will be spending two more days in the temple town to chalk out a detailed plan of the yatra with the party core committee.

Recently, he surprised everyone by declaring that his party will contest all 175 Assembly constituencies, contrary to the belief that he would go for seat sharing with the Communist parties.

“We are working on booth level committees for a start in all the 13 districts. We will contest from all the 175 seats in the state,” Pawan said.

Ropes in strategist Dev

Roping in political strategist Dev, who owns a political firm here, Pawan said that Dev has been working with the party for the past 10 months.

He also said that Dev will be working on election plans and designing institutional policy.

“Power is resting in the hands of few and the fruits of development are unable to reach the common man. Jana Sena is the voice of a common man and depressed classes,” Pawan said.

Giving reasons to contest from all constituencies, he said that he wanted to contest 70-80 Assembly constituencies and 8 Lok Sabha constituencies in previous elections but had to change plans to support the NDA.

“Jana Sena doesn't represent a single caste. If so, we would've not supported TDP in the first place. Let's start thinking beyond caste,” he said in a statement.

Janasena will announce Telangana's election plan by the end of August second week.
