Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) chief and Lok Sabha MP from Karnataka, Tejasvi Surya, lashed out at the DMK, calling it "anti-Hindu".

"DMK represents a bad, virulent ideology which is anti-Hindu. Every Tamil is a proud Hindu. This is the sacred land that has the highest number of temples in the country. Every inch of Tamil Nadu is sacred, but DMK is anti-Hindu, so we must defeat it," Surya said at the BJYM state convention on February 21.

The ruling AIADMK-BJP and DMK-Congress alliances have already launched campaigns for the upcoming Assembly polls likely in April-May with their respective leaders holding rallies and tours.

The BJP Yuva Morcha president Tejasvi Surya also said that the BJP respects and promotes all regional languages of India, therefore if Tamil has to survive Hindutva has to win.

“The DMK tries to paint the BJP as anti-Tamil and as a Hindi party. BJP is the only party that respects and promotes all regional languages of India, if Tamil has to survive, Hindutva has to win, if Kanada has to win Hindutva has to win, therefore the BJP represents the spirit of Tamil Nadu and the spirit of Tamil language,” said Surya.

The BJP has decided to contest the election with the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the southern state. Tamil Nadu BJP chief L Murugan has said the seat-sharing arrangements between the two parties will be finalised very soon.
