SP faces rebellion over alliance with BSP

Last Updated 01 May 2019, 10:38 IST

Two days after the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati announced their alliance in Uttar Pradesh in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, an SP legislator slammed Akhilesh for "surrendering" before Mayawati and said that the alliance would be "short lived".

SP MLA from Sirsaganj Assembly constituency in Ferozabad district, Hariom Yadav, said on Monday that the SP-BSP alliance would not "work" in the forthcoming polls.

"The alliance will continue only as long as Akhilesh agrees to Mayawati's conditions... everyone knows about Mayawati... she is unpredictable," Hariom said.

Incidentally, Hariom Yadav is a relative of SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav.

He hinted that he may join hands with rebel SP leader and Akhilesh's uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav. "Shivpal Singh Yadav will contest from Ferozabad," he said.
