'Speedbreaker didi' lost sleep after 2 phases: Modi

Last Updated 20 April 2019, 13:44 IST

Launching a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that even when it comes to curbing terrorism, her actions are decided by vote bank politics.

The Prime Minister also said that stringent measures will be taken against cross-border infiltration once the BJP government returns to power.

"A few year ago there was a blast in Khagragarh ( in West Bengal's Bardhaman). Who tried to stop the investigation then? Even when it comes to terrorism the actions of people like Didi are driven by vote bank politics," said Modi. He was addressing an election rally at Buniadpur in South Dinajpur district.

Accusing the Opposition of trying to mislead the people regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the Prime Minister said that stern measures will be taken to pin point and wipe out cross-border infiltration.

"We will taken stringent measures to stop cross-border infiltration and stop cross border terrorism after May 23," said Modi.

Referring to the incident of a Bangladeshi actor taking part in TMC campaign, Modi accused the ruling party in Bengal of bringing in foreigners in their campaign for appeasement politics.

"For the sake of vote bank politics foreigners are being brought for campaigning. Has such a thing happened in India before? Didi can go to any length for appeasement and vote bank politics.

Reiterating his "speed breaker Didi" barb, Modi said that the reports of first and second phase of polling in West Bengal has ruined Banerjee's sleep.
