Yet another Guinness record was created at the ongoing International Science Festival, when as many as 3,540 students were given first aid lessons, in Lucknow on Sunday.

The students, aged between 13-17 years and drawn from various schools, were given instructions in first aid in the presence of Guinness World Record officials.

Earlier the largest first aid lesson consisted of 2,582 participants and had been achieved by Directorate of Emergency and Public Safety of Abu Dhabi Police (UAE), at the national theater, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on April 18, 2018.

Aparajita Mehra, chief student coordinator, said that the main objective behind the exercise was to ensure that more number of students were given first aid lessons so that the knowledge can reach far and wide.

''The students were given lessons in first aid, fracture and injuries. They were very excited as they knew they were going to create a new record. Our main motive was to reach more and more people,'' Aparajita said.

She said that the knowledge of first aid could save lives in times of emergency.

''The response was tremendous. We had also roped in students from some government schools,'' she added.

Only a day back, the students had created a new Guinness record in conducting the DNA isolation of banana, breaking the earlier record set by the US based Seattle Children's Research Institute.
