The SIT, headed by former CBI director R.K. Raghavan, is investigating the 2002 Godhra and post-Godhra riots.
The apex court's special bench headed by Justice D.K. Jain said: "We don't appreciate a letter being sent to a foreign country. We can't approve of it."
The court, however, disposed the matter after Setalvad made a statement that in future she will not mark any communication addressed to the SIT to the international rights panel.
