External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj ran into her husband and former Mizoram governor Swaraj Kaushal in the Parliament House and could not resist from announcing it on social media.

While sharing their picture, Sushma tweeted: “Together after many years – a chance meeting with @governorswaraj at the Parliament House gate today…He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1998-2004. I was in Lok Sabha. Then I came to Rajya Sabha in 2000.”

‘Together at House’

In another tweet, Sushma said: “Together at home, not in the Parliament.”

Sushma shared that Kaushal was governor of Mizoram from 1990 to 93. The couple were in the Rajya Sabha between 2000-2004.

In the picture, Sushma is seen holding Kaushal’s hand, while senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh and Uttar Pradesh BJP leader Vinay Katiyar are cheering the couple.

Kaushal, who is a senior lawyer in the Supreme Court, was one of the youngest persons to be appointed governor of a state at the age of 37.

Kaushal played an important role as interlocutor with Mizo National Front leader Laldenga, who signed a peace accord when Rajiv Gandhi became the prime minister.

Sushma, who enjoys a huge following on Twitter, has used the micro-blogging site to engage with and help Indians in distress across the world.

She has about 5.58 million followers.
