External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will travel to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyz Republic, on Tuesday to take part in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

This is going to be her last official engagement before the counting of the votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections on May 23.

This will be the second SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting that India will be attending as a full member of the bloc. External Affairs Minister had also attended the last CFM meeting in Beijing (China) on April 23 and 24.

“India actively took part in various SCO dialogue mechanisms under the Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic over the past year. The next SCO Summit will be held in Bishkek on June 13-14,” Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

The meeting will give Swaraj and her counterparts from other SCO member nations to review the preparations for the forthcoming summit of the bloc in Bishkek and also exchange views on topical issues of international and regional importance, said MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar.
