Suspected TRS activists attack Renuka's camp office in AP

Last Updated 02 December 2009, 17:07 IST

The attackers attempted to set ablaze the camp office, leaving the windows of the building partially burnt on Tuesday night, police sources said on Wednesday.

The TRS activists left behind a letter in which they have alleged that Chowdhury was anti-Telengana.

The incident, which came in the midst of TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao’s going on a fast in order to step up the Telangana stir, drew condemnation from Congress which said this was not the way solutions are found to problems in a democratic polity and has demanded strict action against the perpetrators of the attack.

“It is extremely unfortunate that the former minister’s house has been attacked. This is not the way solutions are found in a democratic polity,” party spokesperson Manish Tiwari said in New Delhi.

Chowdhury for her part termed the attack as “goondaism and political opportunism at its worst” and said she will not be intimidated by such things.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah downplayed the attack saying it was not a “national issue” but promised action against those behind the incident.
