A 16-year-old girl has written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath seeking protection from a senior BJP leader's son, whom she has accused of harassment.

The teen in the letter implores Adityanath to “do something” otherwise she will commit suicide.

The girl is confined to her home ever since her father lodged a complaint with the police accusing BJP district unit president Sanjay Khokhar’s son Akshoy of “harassing” his daughter.

The Baghpat district police, instead of taking action against the accused has reportedly been putting pressure on the victim’s family to withdraw the complaint and have also registered a fake case against the victim’s brother.

The terrorised girl has slipped into depression and reportedly tried to commit suicide.

According to the reports, Akshoy and his friends have been throwing letters into the victim’s home after the complaint was lodged.

Akshoy, who lives in her neighbourhood, had been harassing the girl for the past several months. Akshoy's father has denied the allegations.

In the letter, she wrote, “The cops are not taking any action under pressure....I have been forced to live within the four walls of my house....I do not want this kind of life...It is better for me to die.”

She reminded Adityanath that he had promised to “restore” the dignity of women and ensure their safety. “I have neither of them,” she said.

The local police have now assured her justice and that action will be taken against the accused.
