TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s wife responds to CBI notice

She also stated that she was “unavailable” when the notice was delivered to her on Sunday

The wife of Trinamool Congress (MP) Abhishek Banerjee responded to CBI’s summon on Monday asking the Central agency to send its team to her residence for questioning.

Rujira Banerjee, Abhishek’s wife, stated in her response to the Central agency’s summon that she was unaware of the reason why she was being called for questioning.

"Though I am unaware of the reason for me bring called for questioning or subject matter of the investigation, you may visit my residence, at your convenience between 11 am and 3 pm tomorrow, i,e, 23 February 2021. You are requested to kindly inform me of your schedule,” stated Rujira in her response.

She also stated that she was “unavailable” when the notice was delivered to her on Sunday.

The CBI issued a notice to Rujira on Sunday asking her to join the probe in a coal pilferage scam. Meanwhile, CBI officials quizzed Abhishek’s sister-in-law Menaka Gambhir in the coal pilferage case during the day.
