Tollywood organises 3-day ritual to break chain of deaths

Last Updated 14 March 2015, 20:47 IST

Shattered by a series of unexpected deaths in Tollywood over the past two years, the Telugu film industry has decided to turn to God with the belief that the chain of unfortunate events would be broken.

Many are convinced that the unrelated deaths in Tollywood since 2013 are the work of evil spirits or because of bad numerology, prompting the industry to perform a three-day ritual to appease the gods.

Actor M Murali Mohan, president of the Movie Artists Association and Telugu Desam Party parliamentarian from Rajahmundry, announced Tollywood’s spiritual intentions.

He said that “Amrutha Pasupatha Maha Mirtyunjaya Homam” would be performed for three days starting March 23 at the Film Nagar Daivasannidhanam Temple in Banjara hills to ward off the ill omen that is haunting Tollywood.

Last year, actor Uday Kiran committed suicide on January 5. The same year, actor Sri Hari passed away on October 9 and comedian AVS on November 8, both from liver ailments. Actor Subrahmanyam also died from liver-related problems on December 7. These deaths were preceded by numerous others in 2013.
