TV9 CEO booked for forgery; office & residence raided

The Cyberabad police have booked a case against TV 9 channel CEO V Ravi Prakash, actor Shivaji and others, alleging forgery for wrongful gain among other issues, based on a complaint lodged by Alanda Media Entertainments Director P Kaushik Rao.

A criminal case was registered in Cyber Crime police station under sections 406, 420, 467, 469, 471, 120 (B) IPC and sections 66 and 72 of IT Act and investigation was taken up by the Cyber Crime Police.

The Cyberabad police in a statement said that searches were conducted in four places: the Associated Broadcasting Company (P) Ltd at Banjara Hills, residence of V Ravi Prakash at Banjara Hills, residence of S Shivaji at Himayat Nagar and residence of M K V N Murthy at Khairathabad.

According to reports the issue is in connection with alleged take over of TV 9 by Alanda Media. There were allegations that the signature of Rao was forged by Ravi Prakash on a letter which opposed the appointment of three new directors by Alanda group.

The police said that detailed investigation was being done. During searches, the teams seized important documents and electronic evidence which will be forwarded to laboratories for further analysis.

Meanwhile Ravi Praksh appeared on the TV to say he was very much in town and not absconding as reported in certain sections of the media. He said he was still the CEO of the channel.
