Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Reports said the gunfight broke out late on Monday night in Tujjar village of Sopore, after security forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in the area.
A police spokesperson said that during the searches, hiding militants fired on the security forces, which was retaliated leading to an encounter. “In the ensuing encounter, two militants were eliminated. The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained,” he said and added some arms, ammunition and incriminating material have been recovered from the encounter site.
Following the gunfight, authorities suspended Internet services and closed all educational institutions in Sopore as a “precautionary measure.”
The latest encounter came a day after five militants and a soldier were killed in an encounter with security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in neighbouring Kupwara district. Earlier, on September 21, five more militants were killed in a similar operation by the army in the forest area of northern Bandipora district.
