Last Updated 02 December 2010, 17:01 IST

The victim, who was from Mizoram, was gangraped in a moving goods carrier on November 23. “We have arrested two of the five accused. Another person is learnt to have surrendered in a Haryana court. We are looking for the remaining two,” said Deputy Commissioner of South Delhi HGS Dhaliwal.  All the accused are from Mewat district of Haryana.

The arrested persons, Shamshad, Usman and the one who has surrendered, have criminal backgrounds. Just two days ago, the third accused was imprisoned in a cow slaughtering case.

Meanwhile, police vans have started accompanying BPO cabs going to areas with a high concentration of north-east women to observe the compliance of  safety guidelines while dropping women late in the night.  Presently, police has decided to tail around 20 BPO cabs.
The woman was abducted by the accused after she was dropped late at night some 100 metres from her residence in Dhalakuan area of South Delhi. After a gangrape in a moving goods carrier, the woman was dumped at the Mangolpuri area in north Delhi.

The police had issued sketches of the suspects and are intensely searching the area where the woman was dumped. Ironically, on November18,  five days before the incident, the police had discussed and formulated a slew of safety measures for BPO employees.
