Upset Gujjars to revive quota agitation from May 15

The Gujjar community in Rajasthan has threatened to revive its agitation from May 15 demanding 5% MBC (more backward classes) quota within the 50% reservation cap by bifurcating 21% OBC quota.

The Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti, a body representing the Gujjars, had given an ultimatum to the state government to provide the quota.

Disappointed Gujjar leaders said that talks with the state government have yielded no results and now they will continue agitating till the government fulfils their demand.

"We are left with no other option except to go on the path of agitation again if the government fails to meet our demands," Gujjar leader Col Kirori Singh Bainsla said.

"If the state government does not fulfil our demand, we will revive the agitation from May 15 at Adda village of Bayana and will hold a 'mahapanchayat' the same day," Col Bainsla added.

Gujjar leaders demanded to speed up the work undertaken by the Justice Rohini commission, constituted by the central government to explore the possibility of bifurcation of the OBC quota.
