After the BJP submitted a 100-point list to Bhagat Singh Koshyari highlighting failures of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi, the ruling dispensation too has decided to meet the Governor.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar of the NCP confirmed that a government delegation will meet Koshyari once he is back. “He is out of Mumbai, we will meet him once he is back,” he told reporters on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that a BJP delegation comprising Leader of Opposition in Assembly and ex-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, his counterpart in the Council Pravin Darekar, state unit President Chandrakant Patil, his Mumbai counterpart Mangal Prabhat Lodha and senior leaders Sudhir Mungantiwar, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil and Ashish Shelar met Governor on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they apprised Governor on 100 points where they felt the MVA government has failed to discharge its Constitutional duties including the corruption charges made by ex-Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and the alleged corruption in the police transfers and promotions – as mentioned in the intelligence report.
Pawar said that Thackeray has asked for a report from Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, who was then the Additional Chief Secretary (Home).
Meanwhile, many senior MVA leaders are of the opinion that a judicial inquiry be held vis-à-vis Singh’s charges against Deshmukh. They called for action against senior IPS officer Rashmi Shukla, the then Commissioner of State Intelligence Department, for leaking out an intelligence report to the opposition members.
In a related development, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad alleged that Shukla had threatened some of the MLAs when the BJP was trying to cobble up support to form a government.
He also named Minister of State for Cultural Affairs Rajendra Yadravkar, who later confirmed the development.
