NAINA to have integrated mobility plan: Fadnavis

The massive Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) - a city that would be much bigger than Mumbai - will have an integrated mobility plan.

"Mumbai is ever expanding, the next phase of development would be beyond Navi Mumbai... the NAINA area... it would be much bigger than Mumbai and for this, we are going to have an integrated mobility plan," Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday.

"Transportation is key to development, and since NAINA is much bigger than Mumbai, we would proceed in a planned manner, for an integrated development plan, an integrated mobility plan is necessary," Fadnavis said in presence of Railway Minister Piyush Goyal at the Kharkopar station in Raigad district, nearly 55 km away from downtown Mumbai.

Ever since he had taken over, for Fadnavis, the infrastructure development is a matter of topmost priority.

He said that the work for the Navi Mumbai International Airport is underway.

Besides, he also pointed out that the Panvel railway station would grow as big as a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bandra Terminus or Dadar. "We need to plan accordingly," he added.

The CIDCO, which is a special planning authority, had prepared a blueprint for NAINA, that would be spread over 600 sq km.
