In a show of Opposition unity, the youth wings of seven non-NDA political parties met in New Delhi on Friday to plan joint protests against the Modi government.

Youth Congress spokesperson Amrish Ranjan Pandey described the meeting as preliminary and added that they would meet again on September 3 to come out with an action plan against the Modi government.

Besides the Youth Congress, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), All India Youth Federation (AIYF), All India Youth League (AIYL), NCP Youth Wing, SP Youth Wing, IUML Youth Wing.

The DYFI, AIYF and AIYL are youth wings of CPM, CPI and Forward Bloc respectively.

The young leaders discussed carrying out joint agitation on youth-related issues at the national and state level.

“The agenda was to combat the right-wing forces and save the country. It was discussed and decided in principle that the Opposition stands united,” Pandey said.
