No relation with Prabhas: Y S Sharmila files complaint

Last Updated 25 July 2019, 11:02 IST

Y S Sharmila, sister of opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy filed a complaint here on Monday against the social media wing of Telugu Desam Party alleging that they are spreading rumours of her having an illegal relationship with the Baahubali fame Prabhas.

Sharmila, accompanied by her evangelist husband Anil Kumar and YSR Congress Party functionaries, met Hyderabad City police commissioner Anjani Kumar.

Speaking to media, Sharmila said that certain vested interests with political motivations have tried to sling mud on her character during 2014 elections. “They have spread rumours that I have illicit relation with actor Prabhas just before the elections. I have denied it then itself and they stopped it after elections. Now the rumour mill is active again,“ Sharmila said.

She said that she is a mother of two and has never spoken with the actor nor met him so far. “I have no relation with that person. I came here to file a complaint as my silence can be construed as acceptance,” she told the media. Making a direct attack at Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu, she alleged that he is behind the tirade against her in the social media.

“There are women in Naidu’s family too. We can also damage them by writing against their character. But we have value-based politics,” Sharmila said.

She ridiculed that a party that is founded to save Telugu pride has stooped too low to tarnish the image of a political opponent. She said that she had no belief in AP police, hence filed a complaint here. The CP has forwarded the complaint to the cyber cell.

On June 14, 2014, actor Prabhas wrote an open letter denying any relation with Jagan’s sister. “There have been several embarrassing rumours about my alleged relationship with Ms Y S Sharmila. I hereby categorically state that I have never met or spoken to her and the rumours in circulation are completely baseless and have not an iota of truth in them,” he stated.
