YSR Congress leader equates Sreesanth with Chandrababu Naidu

Last Updated 18 May 2013, 22:03 IST

The Andhra Pradesh police on Saturday arrested YSR Congress leader Chinnapa Reddy for putting up a flexible board, or a flexi, alleging that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Chandrababu Naidu was a “political fixer like Sreesanth”.

The flexi had been put up at the Pattabhipuram Circle in Guntur town, about 275 km from Hyderabad. It read: “If Sreeshanth is cricket spot-fixer, Chandrababu is political fixer”. The hoarding also carried full-length pictures of Sreesanth in the middle of bowling a delivery and Chandrababu Naidu walking.

The YSR Congress has been alleging that the TDP had colluded with the Congress government of N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and hence did not support the opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion on the government during the budget session of the Assembly.

TDP workers and leaders of Guntur district took objection to the flexi and filed a police report. They also demonstrated against the flexi at Pattabhipuram Circle and clashed with YSRC leaders.

Police have arrested Chinnapa Reddy, a YSRCP Seva Dal convener, for putting up the flexi.
Kodela Shiv Prasad Rao, a TDP leader from Guntur, has alleged that lacking credible leaders, the Jaganmohan Reddy-led party has been regularly using portraits of film actors and cricketers to promote their tainted leader.

This is not the first time that the YSR Congress has tried to provoke the TDP. Earlier, they had put up pictures of TDP founder NTR and film actor NTR junior (NTR’s grandson) in another flexi in Krishna and Guntur districts.
