Struggle and success

This is an awe-inspiring tale of an affluent family, articulately narrated to me by an acquaintance. It seems the well-heeled family, with all wonderment, watched the twin wispy butterfly chrysalises on a willowy plant stem near their window sill daily. One day, they were greatly excited to hear a gentle rustle, from one of the gestating chrysalises, as the gossamer-winged butterfly had gingerly begun to get out, from its cocoon via a tiny chink it had created.

Struggling hard, it finally slithered out, pausing for a few seconds, to summon all the strength needed for the next subsequent moves. Then, fiercely pumping fluid into its fragile body, it started flying upward, flaunting its fabulous beauty.

Now, on finding the fiery and feisty struggle of this first butterfly, the family decided to facilitate the flying task of the second butterfly by making it fatigue-free. So, on seeing slight stir in its silky cocoon, taking supreme care, they tried slitting it open, using sharp-edged knife. Lo! they were indeed stumped by what they witnessed in startled silence. The second butterfly, after slowly clinging to the stem for a few seconds, succumbed to its death subsequently.

Apparently, it was the profound struggle that had proffered the first butterfly plenitude of stamina to pump fluid into its wings, and to propel itself to fly with perfect ease. Incidentally, even in life, it is that ‘struggle’, which acts as a sheer precursor to a successful life.

For instance, take the struggling phase in our professional front. When we struggle hard, we start comprehending the crux of work nature, and in turn, our minds gets filled with copious knowledge, experience and confidence. Also, this struggle hikes up our mental fortitude and resilience to such extent that even Sisyphean tasks/challenges in the future turn into simple ones! Not to discount, the more mammoth our struggle; the more monumental is the joy derived.

Just like in the case of the first butterfly, wherein its inordinate struggle had made it immensely successful; even our severe combats with ‘life struggles’ someday sure makes us soar high in the skies of success!
