Protest against women's entry into Sabarimala

Last Updated 02 January 2019, 17:54 IST

“The entry of two women into Sabarimala temple has hurt the devotees’ sentiments. The ‘atheist’ Kerala government is conspiring to destroy Hindu religion,” said Guruswamy Vishwanath of the Deralakatte Ayyappa Temple.

Speaking at a press meet, he said that Sabarimala Samrakshana Vedike members, on Thursday, would stage a protest against the Kerala government’s move to allow women into the temple. The Supreme Court had granted women of all age groups entry into Sabarimala temple in its October 2018 verdict. This is against the temple’s tradition of restricting menstruating women from entering the temple premises.
