Rafale deal: KPCC chief wants probe against PM

Last Updated 06 March 2019, 19:00 IST

KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of directly being a part of corruption in the Rafale deal.

He was speaking at the Parivarthana Yatre organised by the Congress at Adyar on the city’s outskirts on Wednesday.

Dinesh Gundu Rao demanded a probe against the prime minister under Prevention of Corruption Act with regard to the Rafale deal. “The Central government has accepted before the Supreme Court the fact that documents pertaining to the Rafale deal are missing. Corruption has already been proven in the Rafale deal. The prime minister and the PMO are part of corruption,” said the president.

“Modi is not a ‘chowkidar’. He has misled the Parliament, the court and ht ecitizens of the country with regard to the Rafale deal. There is a need to conduct an investigation to bring to light the corruption in the Rafale deal,” he stated.

Most soldier deaths

Siddaramaiah, the state coalition government’s coordination committee chairperson, said that India has lost the highest number of soldiers during Modi’s tenure.

“To hide the truth, the Centre has been engaged in levelling allegations against the Opposition parties,” he said.

Speaking after inaugurating the Parivarthana Yatre, Siddaramaiah said the Centre’s failure is responsible for the death of 49 CRPF personnel at Pulwama at the hands of the Fidayeen. “Where was the intelligence wing of the government? Why was the warning on the possible attack taken lightly?” he asked.

Further, he stated, “Let any party be in power, it is unforgivable to use the death of soldiers for political purpose. Modi has been engaged in such cheap politics.”

When Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister, the Indian army had defeated Pakistan in 1971. Indira Gandhi was responsible the victory. However, the Congress did not use it for political purpose, he reminded.

Taking a dig at Modi’s jibe of ‘remote controlled CM’, Siddaramaiah said, “It is the RSS remote which is controlling Prime Minister Narendra Modi. No individual can control a chief minister in a democracy. Only people can control with their votes. Narendra Modi’s experience of him being controlled from Nagpur is probably making him comment against others.”

‘Defeat Kateel’

Siddaramaiah appealed to Congress party workers to defeat Nalin Kumar Kateel who has represented Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency twice but failed to contribute to the development of the district.

“The Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency is represented by BJP MPs for the last 28 years. They have not contributed to the development of the district. For the last 10 years, Kateel has been engaged in provoking and instigating the minds of the people on communal issues,” said Siddaramaiah.

Speaking further, he listed out, “When the prices of arecanut, pepper and rubber crashed, Kateel failed to raise the issue in the Parliament. He did not even oppose when the proposal of merging Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda was approved. The work on the Pumpwell flyover remained incomplete for the last eight years.”

Siddaramaiah accused Prime Minister Modi of failing to fulfil the promise in the last five years. “Modi does not have any morality to seek vote by projecting achievements. The people of the Coastal district should not be carried away by colourful speech of Modi,” he requested.
