Sahabalve, a forum of like-minded people, will organise ‘Sarvajanothsava’, a convention, to focus on cordial relationship between various communities at Royal Garden grounds, near Kalsanka, on March 17 at 3 pm.

Addressing the media persons, Sahablave Udupi President Amrith Shenoy said that the organisers had no intention to talk about negativity in the society.

“We want to retain and enrich the legacy of cordial relationship among people from different castes and religions in the coastal region. In fact, we reached out to many in the society, while some shedding their party affiliation joined us and supported our cause,” he said. “There is a constructive mechanism being played out to spoil the humane approaches in the society. Everything is being looked out from the view point of community and religion. This approach has weakened the idea of India. So to uphold the Constitution of this country, this convention is being organised,” Shenoy said.

Around 20,000 people will participate. The convention has got nothing to do with the forthcoming election as it was planned about three months ago, Shenoy said.

The Forum has sought the permission to hold this convention and nobody will seek vote for any party in the event. This convention is to show the legacy of brotherhood that existed between people in this district from past many decades, he said.

Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar, Journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu and others will address the gathering, Shenoy added.
