India, China will behave responsibly on Climate Change: B'desh

"I believe that both the countries are very responsible members of the international community and they will do what is not only in their best interest but also the best interest of the region," Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni told PTI here.

The high-level summit, which featured more than 100 world leaders was convened to mobilise political will before the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
The meeting in the Danish capital is expected to yield a climate treaty to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012. India was represented by Foreign Minister SM Krishna and Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh at the Summit.

India has 16 per cent of the world's populations and produces less than five per cent of the word's greenhouse gases, while China has 17 per cent of the global population and produces 23 per cent of the greenhouse gases.

The United States, which has 5 per cent of the world's population, produces 22 per cent of the global greenhouse gases.
