Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said he regrets not being able to learn the world's oldest language Tamil during his long political innings as a chief minister and prime minister. He stated this during his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' radio address. The prime minister said sometimes even a very small and simple question rankles the mind.

Launching a frontal attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BJP president J P Nadda on Thursday said despite claiming to be “Bengal’s daughter and Didi” she was aloof to the safety of women in the state which was in an alarming condition.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday spoke high of Tamil and its culture, calling it 'sweet', on a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed regret about not being able to learn the old southern language.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday sought to reach out to fishermen in poll-bound Kerala, assuring them his party would include their needs in its election manifesto as he sailed with a group of fishers and expressed admiration for their work in sea braving odds.
