Google has been very pro-active in terms of bringing accessibility features to help differently-abled people get information easily with less effort on its search platforms and also on many of its products such as YouTube, Google Maps, and others.
.
Now, the company has announced the launch of a live caption for both audio and video contents on the Chrome, world's most popular web browser.
.
This will greatly help the hearing impaired people to clearly understand the conversation be it on a podcast or a visual clip. The company says that Chrome's live caption works across all platforms including social media and video sites, podcasts and radio content, personal video libraries (such as Google Photos), embedded video players, and most web-based video or audio chat services.
.
Another interesting thing about the Chrome Live Caption is that it works offline as well.
.
"These captions in Chrome are created on-device, which allows the captions to appear as the content plays without ever having to leave your computer. Live Caption also works offline, so you can even caption audio and video files saved on your hard drive when you play them in Chrome," the Google Chrome team said.
.
Here's how to enable Live Caption on Google Chrome:
Just go to the Settings >> Advanced >> Accessibility >> Live Caption
.
"Excited to see Live Caption roll out on @GoogleChrome making audio content more accessible for everyone. The real-time captions are created on-device without the audio or captions ever leaving your computer, and even works offline on your stored media," said Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google & Alphabet Inc.
.
Get the latest news on new launches, gadget reviews, apps, cybersecurity, and more on personal technology only on DH Tech.
