$20,000 fine for Gambhir

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Ghambir has been fined for his team’s slow over rate during the IPL match against Delhi Daredevils at the Ferozeshah Kotla Ground.

At the end of the match, the Knight Riders were assessed to be one over behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration during the Monday night’s match.

Since it was Gambhir’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, the Kolkata skipper was fined $20,000.

Gambhir, after the match against the Delhi Daredevils, said he believes in playing aggressive cricket and striving to win every game.

‘I think aggressive cricket is very important. More so, we have such aggressive batsmen. It is  the responsibility of batsmen like me, Brendon McCullum  or Yusuf  Pathan to bat aggressively and do the scoring.  It is our natural style,”Gambhir said.

“ Whenever, we go out to play, I would like to win every game. For that if I have to be aggressive, then I will be,’’ he added.
