<p>The first Bangalore Urban District Athletic Association Junior District Championship will begin at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Thursday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Over 1000 athletes from various clubs and institutions are expected to take part in the three-day meet which will have events in under-12, under-14, under-16, under-18 and under-20 categories.<br /><br />The event will also serve as the selection trials for the State Junior Championships in Bengaluru from August 20 to 22 and the All-India inter-district championship at Visakhapatnam in the first week of September.<br /><br />As a token of encouragement to the up and coming athletes, prize money is on offer with the top three finishers getting Rs 500, Rs 300 and Rs 200 respectively. <br /><br />With the dates of the event clashing with the Junior Federation Cup in Hyderabad, a few top athletes in the under-20 section will miss the event.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the State team for the Junior Federation Cup left for Hyderabad on Wednesday.</p>
