Chikmagalur Rally from Nov 23

The Indian National Rally Championship will get back on track when the Cafe Coffee Day Chikmagalur Rally kick starts on November 23.

The 2012 INRC season started a couple of months late due to lack of sponsors, while the second leg -- Rally of Coorg -- was put off due to incessant rains. The third round on the INRC calendar too came under some pressure and may have been put off in view of a political rally, but organisers Chikmagalur Motor Sports Club advanced the spectator-friendly Super Special Day, which is normally run on Sunday (Nov 25), to Nov 23 and retained Nov 24 as the date for the two Special Stages with only the prize-distribution on Nov 25. The Special Stages will be run thrice over a distance of 94 kms.

Another development is the inclusion of the Gypsy class. The Gypsy class was scrapped as an INRC category for this year but CMSC officials decided to run a separate, non-championship class along with other categories.

As far as the championship is concerned, Lohitt Urs will be vying for top honours in the 2000N category. The Mysore driver pulled off a stunning win in the K-1000 at Shidlaghata and will be the one to beat at Chikmagalur.
