Dhoni 'spiked' from indoor cricket centre

The incident occurred when Dhoni went to the indoor facilities situated at Old Trafford for a photo shoot on a request from the England and Wales Cricket Board before heading for Tuesday’s practice session. It is learnt that when Dhoni was about to enter the premises where the shoot was scheduled, an official asked him to remove the spikes.

An amused Dhoni pointed to a few other cricketers, all in their spikes, already present inside but the official didn’t budge from his position and insisted that Dhoni take off his spiked shoes. An infuriated Indian skipper walked off without attending the shoot and brought the incident to the notice of team manager Shivlal Yadav.

Confirming the incident, Yadav said the team management had lodged an oral complaint with ECB chairman Giles Clarke. “The manager at the indoor facilities was very rude to Dhoni,” revealed Yadav. “Dhoni went there on a request from the ECB but this manager behaved rudely, which upset him. He was not at all happy with the way he was treated and we have complained to the ECB. It’s up to them to take action against the officials concerned.”
